JOB PURPOSE
Sci-Tech Daresbury (www.sci-techdaresbury.com) is an award-winning national science and innovation campus. It is home to the international-recognised STFC Daresbury Laboratory and around 150 technology companies, from start-ups to SMEs and corporates such as IBM, Hitachi, Croda and Atos. It has exciting plans to continue the growth of the campus from its current 1,500 people on-site to around 10,000 people over the next 15-20 years. This growth is achieved through attraction of new businesses to the campus, and supporting the growth of the technology companies based on the campus. It will be enabled through the provision of new buildings and facilities on the campus to support their physical growth and scaling of our business support and partnership programmes.

It is managed by a public-private joint venture comprising of 3 partners – the Science and Technology Facilities Council (https://stfc.ukri.org), Halton Borough Council (https://www3.halton.gov.uk) and Langtree (https://www.langtreepp.co.uk).

The Partnership Support & Marketing Manager is an important role within the Langtree team at Sci-Tech Daresbury to provide greater resource and skills into developing the partnership and marketing activities at Sci-Tech Daresbury. This position will be responsible for supporting the Business Growth Director and Head of Business Support at the Sci-Tech Daresbury campus to coordinate and develop its many strategic partnerships. They will also provide support to the Head of Marketing at Langtree, to coordinate the strategic marketing, website and social media activities for Sci-Tech Daresbury.

This position will be part of a growing Business Growth team managed by Langtree at Sci-Tech Daresbury and one of fifteen staff working on the site. The role will work closely with the Business and Innovation team at the Science and Technology Facilities Council based on the campus.

There are 7 key dimensions to this job role:

  1. Management of Sci-Tech Daresbury’s Gold and Silver partnership programmes and development of any relevant new sponsorship initiatives:
    • Target income of £70k minimum for 2022/23
    • Development of new digital brochure to promote both programmes
    • Identification of new categories and potential partners for Gold partnership programme
    • Development and implementation of new application process for Silver partnership programme
    • Regular engagement and update with Silver partners, and specified Gold partners
  2. Provide support to the Business Growth Director and Head of Business Support to coordinate and develop strategic partnerships with identified external organisations, in particular this will include:
    • Provision of data analysis/intelligence to assist in identifying the strategic opportunity and required activities
    • Support & coordination of formal meetings
    • Engagement with required organisations on-campus and off-campus
  3. Plan, promote and deliver the Sci-Tech Daresbury events programme with its strategic partners to include:
    • Management, promotion and delivery of the BBN and post-BBN programme
    o Coordinate support and input from wider Sci-Tech Daresbury team and external partners
    o Manage facilities, catering and registration
    • Management of Network Hub updating information on all events and trouble shooting any issues with members of Network Hub
    • Development of promotional materials for any events
    • Organisation of facilities, registration and catering
    • Promotion of the event to on-campus and off-campus organisations
    • Management of feedback
    • Communication with attendees before and after the event
  4. Provide support to the Head of Marketing and Business Growth Director for delivery of the marketing activities at Sci-Tech Daresbury to include:
    • Coordination and uploading of content to the Sci-Tech Daresbury website
    • Working with Sci-Tech Daresbury’s partners to plan, develop, implement and evaluate the impact of the social media activity
    • Planning & management of the annual Blog programme
    • Work with partners to deliver on-campus marketing information to tenants (eg Tenant Hub, Monthly Campus Newsletter, Quarterly Network newsletter, Travelhub programme)
    • Support for promotion of Talent and Skills initiatives including case studies and jobs portal
    • Coordination of the Marcomms subgroup meetings
    • Input and support into other ad-hoc marketing activities and initiatives
  5. Management, organisation and promotion of existing Future Club programme
    • Target income of £3k for 2023
    • Development of new digital brochure to promote programme
    • Coordination of regular meetings with Future Club members – Launch, Mid-Year & end of Year
    • Follow-up with members who want to be established as permanent tenants
    o Target minimum one new tenant per year from the programme
  6. Development, management and promotion of relevant programmes to support Sci-Tech Daresbury’s ESG agenda in particular building the on-site community, promoting health and wellbeing and supporting the local community, specifically:
    • Developing, implementing and promoting the annual fundraising programme for our sponsored charity (currently Stick n Step)
    • Developing and implementing plan for a health and wellbeing programme for campus tenants
    o Identify suitable partners, required facilities and budget to implement
    o Secure approval
    o Implement and promote programme
    • Increase the level of business interaction between campus companies and Halton/local businesses
    o Develop on-line business directory as part of the proposed intranet
    o Establish referral mechanism with campus companies and local organisations (eg Halton Chamber of Commerce)
    o Target to get 10-20 businesses in the on-line directory
    o Explore further sponsorship or revenue-generating opportunities
    • Provide promotional support to the planned Early-Career professional network to share information with potential members and interested companies
  7. Development of Sci-Tech Daresbury’s databases and information sources to support and enhance its strategic partnership activities, and reporting of data to 3rd parties where appropriate :
    • In particular, this will include analysis of the annual campus company survey and development of new insights and intelligence from this
    • Delivery of ad-hoc surveys to provide greater intelligence to support new programmes and initiatives
    • Reporting of information on companies in the Enterprise Zone to MHCLG

As the role develops, there will be increased opportunities to have a significant impact on the delivery of Sci-Tech Daresbury campus, and talent & skills strategies and the development of the campus into a national-leading science and innovation hub. These will be determined by the Business Growth Director and Head of Marketing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE NEEDED
• Qualified to degree level or equivalent in a marketing or business-related subject, or equivalent work experience
• Experience of successfully delivering marketing and social media plans and activities
• Experience of successfully planning and delivering events
• Ability to interact with organisations at all levels including at senior management/director level
• Strong verbal communication and written skills
• Ability to interrogate data to generate new insights
• Good IT skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive team.
• Experience of establishing and managing strategic partnerships
• Experience of managing and negotiating with contractors and suppliers
• Experience of managing cost budgets

WHERE DOES THIS ROLE NEED TO BE BASED
Sci-Tech Daresbury, Keckwick Lane, Daresbury, WA4 4FS. However, there will be a need on an ad-hoc basis to spend some time at the Langtree Head office at the St James Business Centre, Wilderspool Causeway, Warrington WA4 6PS
• Work will be predominantly based at Sci-Tech Daresbury
