Improving Communities

Our ambitions are for a more prosperous, sustainable future for all; where people and places are matched with the opportunity to be the very best, they can be. By working with our partners, we aim to make a sustained difference to the communities we operate within; therefore, we have taken a community approach in our day-to-day activities. This helps generate investment to help support the local economy and provide long-lasting benefits to local residents and the wider community.

Our Current Position

Through our continued support, we are supporting local charitable organisations with over £100k donated over the last 3 years (2021-2024).

Supported our local Youth Zone, providing in-kind benefits through use of our meeting rooms for mock interviews.

Provide support to over 250 children through our Easter and Christmas appeals.

We encourage our team to volunteer in support of suitable causes from within the communities we work in, donating over 350 hours of their time in 2022.

We look to prioritise a local first programme for suppliers, which has resulted in over £450k spent in the local boroughs that we operate in throughout 2022 and an overall £2.8m spent through our joint venture and campus companies at Sci-Tech Daresbury in 2021.

We actively engage with local schools and help them deliver practical elements of their curriculum. Through the Learning to Work programme we have supported over 20 schools and 780 primary school children in the local St Helens borough.

1,000 students are also invited to attend our campus open day at our science and innovation campus to learn about STEM and potential career opportunities.

Through our development process we look to promote the use of local contractors and suppliers, where possible with the assistance of the local Chambers of Commerce. In advance of the tender stage of an upcoming development we have engaged with over 70 local suppliers.

We offer careers coaching for young adults and work-ready support at all levels through the local Chambers of Commerce whilst actively encouraging apprenticeships and traineeships through our network.

By engaging with local community forums, it allows us to understand residents insights through the design and planning process to deliver projects with all in mind.

Our Future Commitments

To create a social value framework which Langtree will use for each new development to maximise the value added for the local community.

To continue supporting local businesses and employ local labour across our developments to create long-lasting benefits for the community.
